the right coast

July 3, 2012 by Chip

Ahhh…color, beach, bikinis.  I really enjoy Florida. I was recently commissioned for a five-day marketing shoot running around Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Kennedy Space Center and all the places that encompass the Space Coast to show off the potpourri of touristy things to do in the area.  I knew NASA.  I knew Ron Jon’s.  I knew a few other things from my time coming to the area as a kid every year to visit the grandparents, but gigs like this [...]

I love these kinds of assignments…and these type of clients.  Bay Magazine is visually helmed by Bruce and Suzette Moyer up at the St. Petersburg Times, and they do an amazing job with their photo play in the high-end travel/lifestyle magazine every month. My gig was about perfect – just drive the coastline of Florida from Ft. DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg to Clearwater Beach, stop, head to the beach and make [...]

vacation crasher

November 27, 2010 by chip

I’ve said it before, but my favorite assignments usually involve getting a call from an editor, asking me to go to place “x” for a few days and shooting “whatever.” Luckily, this time place “x” was a private island off the coast of southeastern Georgia for a multiple page spread in Bay Magazine – a high-end lifestyle mag put out by the St. Petersburg Times.  Little St. Simons Island is 10,000 acres of mostly untouched marshes and beaches with a [...]
